UK lithium-sulphur company OXIS Energy is hoping the slow advances in lithium-ion technology will allow them to gain a foothold in the energy storage market.
The award-winning battery technology firm hopes to get its lithium-sulfur 15kWh per single system units to a wider market by next year following its partnership with Anesco.
The collaboration calls on the energy efficiency solutions company’s expertise in commercial and residential renewable battery storage installations.
Huw Hampson-Jones, CEO of OXIS, said: “Storage systems using lithium-ion technology, such as the much publicised Tesla Powerwall, are limited by a technology that only achieves small incremental improvements each year.”
This project complements the increasing number of sectors adopting lithium-sulfur technology including Electric Vehicles, Defence and Marine applications.
The new battery storage units will be available for installation from 2016.
