Dawn Heng has been promoted to president of Celgard, global leader for lithium-ion battery separators. Celgard is the sister company of Daramic, which focuses more on the lead-acid battery separator world. Both companies are part of the Asahi Kasei group, a $20Bn chemistry conglomerate.
Heng had been with Daramic for more than 10 years as the senior vice president leading the global strategic marketing function, Asia region P&L and specialty business P&L. He brings a good track record in driving global growth and profitability at Daramic.
Heng now shifts his focus towards lithium-ion battery applications, which, compared to lead-acid has more challenges and competition. The lithium chemistry market expects quick growth as the major energy storage form for the future.
Asahi Kasei is expecting growth and is driving success in this intensive competitive lithium-ion battery industry.
