Johnson Matthey has been granted a licence under the intellectual property of CAMX Power LLC (CAMX) to use its CAM-7 platform of nickel-based cathode materials for use in lithium-ion batteries.
The CAM-7 platform covers a range of patented, nickel-rich cathode materials is particularly suited to demanding applications, including electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
The deal will allow the British multinational speciality chemicals and sustainable technologies company to accelerate its move into the nickel-rich cathode material sector of the automotive market.
Martin Green, director of Johnson Matthey’s Battery Technologies, business said: “This licence is another important step in our Battery Technologies strategy, where we are building a broad portfolio of battery materials aimed at satisfying the most demanding performance requirements.”
