Battery manufacturer Eveready Industries India (EIIL) is set to double the price of its dry cell carbon zinc, rechargeable and alkaline batteries.
Minimum retail price of these batteries will become Re 1 ($0.01) a piece from Re 0.50 ($0.00.5) per unit.
EIIL sells around 1.2 billion units a year, of which its premium range constitutes around 40% of its total battery volumes.
EIIL managing director Amritanshu Khaitan said: “Currency exchange and normal inflation in overhead expenses had some impact on margins. The company is, thus, setting off such impact by increasing prices of its premium range batteries.”
