India, Bangladesh and the US are the main customers for China’s lead-acid battery exports, according to a report by the Shanghai Metals Market
The countries have helped China export 15.87 million lead-acid batteries in March, up 34.95% Month on Month and 26.90% Year on Year, according to Customs data.
The biggest upswing came from Bangladesh whose lead-acid battery imports from China grew 260.71% on MoM, according to the latest figures. India was up 35.28% with the US importing 39.31% more batteries.
However, emission regulations becoming tighter in the US and the rise of e-rickshaws in India and Asia in general means only 1.46 million of the total exported batteries were for SLI applications.
Ignition battery exports were up however by 17.24% MoM and 44.58% YoY, with other types of batteries up 37.04% MoM and 25.35% YoY.
The March figures bring the total number of lead-acid battery exports to 49.5 million pieces in Q1, rising 5.13% year-on-year.
Guangdong Dynavolt Power Technology was the main contributor, with its battery exports surging 66.46% in March.
